Auto Aluminum Plate 6016 6111

The main alloy grades of 6xxx series auto aluminum plates include 6016, 6014, 6022, etc., which are currently the main aluminum alloys used in vehicle body exterior panels. The automotive aluminum sheets have high requirements on comprehensive performance, surface quality and quality stability.

The current mainstream aluminum alloy automotive sheet production process is relatively complex, including several major processes: casting, soaking, machining, hot rolling, cold rolling, and continuous heat treatment.

6111 aluminum plate is an American alloy, registered with the American Aluminum Association in 1982; 6014 alloy was developed in Switzerland and registered with the American Aluminum Association in 1983; 6016 alloy is also a Swiss alloy, formed in 1984 and registered in the American Aluminum Association Industry association company registration.

6111 aluminum alloy has the characteristics of low original yield strength, easy stamping and low spring back, relatively low mold consumption and easy control of the shape of the sheet metal parts after stamping.

And in the baking stage after molding, the strength can be greatly improved due to the precipitation strengthening effect of constant heating (about 170°C, 30 minutes). The above many advantages make AA6111 aluminum alloy one of the most popular materials for automobile body sheet metal.

AA6016 aluminum alloy sheets are used in car door outer panels. They can meet the dent resistance design requirements by increasing the sheet thickness and optimizing certain structures. On the premise of meeting the stiffness, strength design requirements and relevant collision regulations, AA6016 aluminum alloy plates can be widely used in the outer panels of automobile doors to replace traditional steel plates, reducing the weight by more than 40% and achieving lightweight purposes.

Haomei aluminium 6016 can already meet the highest requirements of some automobile manufacturers for outer panels of covering parts. The yield strength of aluminum alloy 6016 before baking is 119MPa, and it can reach 218MPa after baking. Another very important performance of this material is stability.

It is undoubtedly correct to use 6XXX series alloys as the mainstream of automotive sheets. They belong to the same series as the most widely used construction aluminum alloys, which is very beneficial to waste recycling and the development of circular economy.
