Automotive 5182 6016 Aluminum Plate

ABS is the English abbreviation of (Auto Body Sheet), which is specially used for stamping the sheet metal parts o the passenger cars. The automotive aluminum is with the highest production technology. The thickness is 0.8mm~1.8mm and the width is usually 800mm~2200mm.

The strength of 5xxx series is higher than that of 1××× series and 3××× series aluminum alloys. It is a medium-high strength aluminum alloy. It has high strength, high formability, high corrosion resistance, high surface treatment and good welding performance, so it is widely used in automobile fuel tanks, structural parts and engine inner covers. Automotive 5182 aluminum plate is a common choice.

5182 aluminum plate is a relatively common material and belongs to the AL-Mg series alloy. It has been successfully used in car doors, car hoods, car front and rear fenders, etc. It has the advantages of good stamping effect and no cracks.

5182 aluminum alloy has good corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, good cold workability, and has a medium strength amount of silicon, so its weldability is better than 5A02. The welding performance of 5182 aluminum plate is good with gas welding, argon arc welding, spot welding and seam welding. Its tensile strength is slightly better than 5052 and 5083 aluminum alloys, and its yield strength is also better than 5052 and 5083 alloys.

6016 aluminum plate has good formability and bake-hardening properties. It is widely used in hoods, doors, trunk lids, roofs, etc. ,and automobile body panels (especially exterior panels). It is a special material for automobile aluminum plates.

6016 alloy is widely used in ABS, but the heat treatment process is complicated. Pre-aging treatment T4P must be performed between solid solution treatment and paint treatment to obtain good performance. Because it should have good formability before stamping, and the strength can be quickly increased during the painting process after stamping, so it has high dent resistance.
