Aluminum Sheet for Car Body
At present, 5, 6, and 7 series aluminum sheets are mostly used on the car body. Among them, the 5 series aluminum sheet is not suitable for the exterior parts of the car due to the deformation problem, so the outer panels of the doors, engine covers, and side panels generally choose 6 series aluminum sheet.
The involved alloy grades are 6016, 6022, 6111, 6181, 5754, 5052 and alloy 5182. Among them, the inner panels of the body basically use 5182 alloy and 6181A alloy, while the outer panels of the body mainly use 6016, 6111 and 6022 alloys. The size of the automotive aluminum sheet is mainly concentrated in the thickness of 0.7-3mm and the width of 900-2130mm.
Compared with other grades, 5××× aluminum alloys have the advantages of low density, high specific strength, good formability and welding performance. When applied to automobile panels, the formability of 5000 series aluminum alloys is better than that of other series of aluminum alloys.
For car doors, car hoods, front and rear fenders and other parts, the mature products we have developed are 5182 aluminum sheet. Haomei Aluminum's 5182 aluminum sheet has a good stamping effect. The customer's feedback is that there is no crack phenomenon after the aluminum plate is stamped. Currently the thickness range that Haomei can produce is 0.15-600mm, and the width range is 20-2600mm (cut according to customer needs).
AA6016 alloy with low Cu content is commonly used in Europe, and AA6111 alloy with high Cu content is commonly used in North America. At present, these two alloys have the problem of poor formability and are not suitable for inner panel materials with high formability requirements.
The 6022 alloy contains lower alloy elements and has better formability and corrosion resistance than AA6016 and AA6111 alloys. It is considered that it can be used as both an outer panel material and an inner panel material.
6016 aluminum alloy has the advantages of good fracture toughness, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, etc., and can be used to manufacture doors, windows, and invisible parts in the body structure.
The heat treatment process is complicated, and pre-aging treatment T4P must be carried out between solution treatment and paint baking treatment to obtain good performance. Because it has good formability before stamping, and can quickly increase the strength during the baking process after stamping, so it has high dent resistance.
