The Use of 6016 Aluminum in Car Making
Aluminum alloy has the characteristics of light weight, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high specific strength, good impact resistance, easy surface coloring, etc., and more than 80% of aluminum can be recycled, making aluminum alloy an ideal lightweight material for automobiles.
6xxx aluminum alloys can be heat treated and strengthened, which just matches the existing automobile body production system. It can go through solid solution and pre-aging in the aluminum sheet factory to make them have good formability, and then go to the automobile factory for stamping and forming to manufacture body components.
Then, the aging treatment can be realized directly by means of the baking paint coating and heating production line of the original steel automobile body components, and the obvious strength performance can be improved, so that the aluminum alloy body components have high concave resistance. Therefore, 6000 series aluminum alloys are considered to be the most promising aluminum alloy for car making.
6016 aluminum including 6016 t4 and 6016 t6 aluminum is widely used in ABS, but the heat treatment process is complicated, and pre-aging treatment T4P must be carried out between solution treatment and paint treatment to obtain good performance. Because it has good formability before stamping, and can rapidly increase the strength during the paint baking process after stamping, so it has high dent resistance.
The production process of 6016 aluminum alloy sheet in the aluminum plate factory is mainly as follows: proportioning, smelting, refining, adding grain refiner, casting, sawing, milling, homogenizing heat treatment, hot rolling, heat treatment, cold rolling, heat treatment (double grade aging) -stamping and bake hardening. 6016 t4 aluminum sheet often affects the final bake-hardening effect due to natural aging during transportation to automobile factories.
Compared with the steel plate front anti-collision beam assembly, the use of 6063 and 6016 aluminum alloys to manufacture the front anti-collision beam assembly not only greatly reduces the weight, but also improves the anti-collision effect. 6063 and 6016 alloys are two commonly used wrought aluminum alloys. The manufacturing cost of aluminum alloy crash beams is about 18.5% higher than that of steel beams.
