EN AW6016 Aluminium for Car Body
Aluminum plates are mainly used in automobiles on the engine hood, trunk lid, body roof, body side panels, fenders, doors and floors. Fuel consumption, easier handling, improved dent resistance and potentially reduced parts usage.
The aluminum alloys used for automobile body panels mainly include Al-C u-M g (2000 series), Al-M g (5000 series) and Al-M g-Si (6000 series). The 6000 series has good plasticity, high strength, and bake hardening. It has become the preferred body material for many automobile manufacturers. For example, there are more Al 6016 in Europe, and more 6111 aluminum alloys in the United States.
The main alloy grades of 6xxx series aluminum alloy automotive sheets include 6016, 6014, 6022, etc., which are the main aluminum alloys currently used in body outer panels. Automobile sheets have high requirements on comprehensive performance, surface quality and quality stability. The current mainstream aluminum alloy automotive sheet production process is relatively complex, including several major processes: melting and casting, soaking, machining, hot rolling, cold rolling, and continuous heat treatment.
The AA6016 aluminum alloy sheet is used in the outer panel of the car door, which can meet the dent resistance design requirements by increasing the thickness of the sheet and optimizing the structure. Under the premise of meeting the rigidity, strength design requirements and relevant collision regulations, AA6016 aluminum alloy plates can be widely used to replace traditional steel plates in the outer panels of automobile doors, so that the weight can be reduced by more than 40%, and the purpose of lightweight can be achieved.
The performance of aluminum alloy-6016, the yield strength before baking is 119MPa, and can reach 218MPa after baking, the performance of these materials is basically consistent with the materials of these famous brands in the world. Another important property of this material is stability. We did an experiment and left the material for 180 days, and its strength is basically very stable.
6016 alloy is widely used in ABS, but the heat treatment process is complicated, and pre-aging treatment T4P must be carried out between solution treatment and paint baking treatment to obtain good performance. Because it should have good formability before stamping, and the strength can be rapidly increased during the paint baking process after stamping, so en aw 6016 t4 has high dent resistance.
